A distant friend, a person with whom she shared the happiest moments of her life. Nib and inkwell. . . they have always remained in contact, bringing each other to each other's hearts. One day they will be able to hug each other again. This work is a praise to hope.

Massimo Riccò was born in Modena in 1961, where he currently lives and works. Towards the end of the 90s, he entered the world of art, drawing with pencils, charcoal and sanguine, but soon moved on to color through oil and acrylic color techniques.
After an initial approach of an impressionist landscape type, of a predominantly figurative nature, over the years a constant evolution has been consolidated, towards the breaking of form, entrusting color with the task of giving the work strength and dynamism.
The compositional research of subjects of various nature is constant, and the study of the different materials that can be used to make the artistic language effective.
For years he has been involved not only in artistic production but also in the teaching of pictorial art, trying to stimulate creativity and personal interpretation, a constantly proposed challenge, in harmony with his vision of art.
In addition to the countless exhibitions, exhibitions and awards, it can count a high number of awards at a national level.

Some of the numerous critical texts by art experts:

Measurement and proportion mark Riccò's works who, without ever betraying his careful study of compositional rhythms, grants the eye of the beholder color intervals of intense emotional impact. The potential of colours, of which the artist demonstrates absolute knowledge, orchestrates a rhythm that alternates balance and contrast, sharing the very nature of light, static and vibrant at the same time. . .
The user thus becomes witness to a process, an alchemy, which transforms the reality of which the works bear traces, now more, now less generous, into abstract backgrounds.
The passion of the moment, of that meeting between heart and reality, is generously revealed by an artist who does not spare his observer of what happened: Massimo Riccò's poetics reveals the maturity and awareness of someone who has something to tell and not can only rely on the canvas.
(Margherita Fraccon – Museum educator, contemporary art expert)

Between nature and imagination, reality and abstraction of reality, the splendid painting of Massimo Riccò flows. Sensations stopped in their evocative moment and precious moments merge in color and light in a painting linked to expressionist art in emotional vigor, in which pathos flows in chromaticism which progresses towards an immediate pictorial gesture. . . (Carla d'Aquino Mineo)

Riccò introduces into his works a color capable of accommodating minimal variations and difficult combinations. This demonstrates how he achieved, in the course of his artistic work, mastery and security of his own means of expression.
Riccò's exquisite sensitivity is revealed by the very themes that the Artist prefers, making them participants in a reality where, always, quality and intonation exist, and this demonstrates how, from the beginning, sobriety and seriousness of intent are the aim the final…

Can we still talk about fantastic visions, or at certain moments of the day is what surrounds man truly fantastic as in Maestro Riccò's paintings?
The answer lies in the originality and the leap in quality that places the Artist among the personalities who deserve attention precisely for the ability to exalt the soul that goes beyond the appearance of things

Riccò loves painting and paints with great passion, so he tells what his eyes see and his poetic nature suggests to him.
He paints pictures that can be admired with great pleasure, as his taste for beauty is evident, as is his confidence in balancing light and shadow, which are nothing other than "emotions" of the moment, expressed with great personal character which is extremely effective, together with his richness of soul, not separated from exuberant imagination, but contained within the confines of good taste.
We will hear about him.
(the critics of the art studio MC – Livio Collina Foundation)

Massimo Riccò's painting emerges as a light harmony that slowly approaches, passing from its nuances to more consistent elements, appearing ever closer to us, and only initially confusing the viewer. Thus the image, in the immediate almost abstract reading, takes on figurative consistency, amplifying itself more and more, and giving the image depicted all its pictorial reality.
Two realities overlap without canceling each other, merging in a graphic and chromatic symbiosis. From strong colors in the foreground, we slowly move to a well-defined figurative reality, the soul of the image and full of sweetness. Blurred but very precise subjects, apparently vague but constructive images, essential to the balance of the canvas.
Beautiful views appear as if from an ether that is still uncertain, but is slowly building with strength and security.
The color is strong and well distributed. Lights and shadow areas build volumes and distances, which the perspectives harmonize. The buildings captured are from different times and the landscapes express vast areas. Everything emerges from a faint chromatic fog, which builds an immense breath. . . (Enrico Miglioli)
Master the means of painting, its techniques, its seductions, and then mix everything together in an extremely original and suggestive vision.
Massimo Riccò still manages to amaze with a figurative tone that now seemed to have said everything, everything seemed to have expressed, except this delicate painting, which challenges the vision in diversified and overlapping planes, in masterfully targeted touches of color. . . (Silvia Arfelli)
