Matthieu Gicquel - Table's center - Récif

Matthieu Gicquel is a young glass-maker with the wish to reveal the textures and patinas of glass material, which is often misunderstood. He challenges the manufacturing processes and tries to make them transparent in the eyes of the user by enhancing the traces left on the material by the tools. Influenced by the Japanese Wabi-Sabi movement, he is committed to working with glass in an authentic and sustainable way, both in the materials and in the manufacturing process he uses. The designer's reflection revolves around the optimisation of manufacturing processes in order to offer a rougher glass material that is closer to the mineral.
