[ translate ]

Includes Letter from Mesoamerican authority Dr. Hasso Von Winning. The Mayan head of Chaac measures 16cm x 14cm (6.5" x 5.5" x 4.75" ) and consist of Green variegated jade, from Northern Guatemala, Late Classic period 250-900 AD. "An astounding representation of Chaac or rain god, usually depicted with a human body and with a non-human head: this particular artifact presents large oval eyes, long ears adorned by large size earflares, pendulous nose and evincing fangs indicated by core drilled cuts. It's back is slightly concave and its carefully polished surface shows light deposits of brown pigment; a deep emerald green vein runs from its forehead, nose and to the tip of the lanceolated protruding tongue. I have inspected this jade head and it is an authentic Mayan artifact. Hasso von Winning, Consultant in Mesoamerican Archeology, Southwest Museum Los Angeles, Ca. The letter is signed and stamped through the photograph of the image. Also included is a bill of sale from Collector M.M. Birbaum in 1969 to Mrs. Barbara Kay
