McCabe: An 18 Carat Gold Open Faced Duplex Pocket Watch, signed Jas McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, numbered 18801, 1848, single chain fusee movement signed and numbered, split bimetallic balance, diamond endstone, enamel dial with Roman numerals and signed, seconds dial, case back with engine turning and rib decorated sides, case maker's mark GH and numbered 18801, London gold hallmark for 1848, together with a Yellow Metal Curb Link Watch Chain, (chain links with no marks) 48mm wide Provenance: Dutton Manor, Lancashire
Case with surface scratches, back cover engine turning in good condition, dial in good clean condition, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement in going order. Total watch weight 89g. Chain links with no gold marks, in our opinion this chain tests as 12 carat gold, chain weight 46g. We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
