Ayris, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, who was killed in action during the retreat to Dunkirk on 28 May 1940India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Burma 1930-32 (5379574 Pte. A. Ayris. Oxf. & Bucks. L.I.); 1939-45 Star; War Medal 1939-45, good very fine (3) £140-£180---Arthur Ayris, a native of Bicester, Oxfordshire, was born in 1912 and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, serving with the 2nd Battalion in Burma. Transferring to the 1st Battalion, he served with them during the Second World War as part of the British Expeditionary Force, and was killed in action in the retreat to Dunkirk, on 28 May 1940.
