Mercedes-Benz - 190 SL - 1961

[ translate ]

The offered model dates back to 1961 and has been restored to its original condition about 15 years ago, after a complete restoration of both the body and the interior. Its current owner purchased it in March 2010 and has driven about 8,000 kilometres with it. The odometer shows 8894, but the actual mileage is not certified. The vehicle is not under warranty and is not covered by a guarantee. Exterior: Some paint work has been done, but the metallic grey colour is identical to the original. Some signs of wear are visible, especially on the edges of the engine cover (see photos) . A strip is lightly scratched (see photos) and the soft top also shows light traces of wear due to the ravages of time. Embellished with a white edging, the Maxxis MA 1 185/80 R 13 tyres are fitted to the original 13-inch steel rims. The spare tyre is mounted from a different tyre. Interior: The passenger compartment layout includes a transversal third seat in the back. The red leather upholstery has been completely refurbished during the restoration in accordance with the state of the art. The dashboard is the same colour as the bodywork and all instruments contained therein are in working condition. These are complemented by the original Becker Europa car radio, a retractable antenna on the right front fender, and the Kienzle clock adorning the glove box. Mechanics: Although its number is no longer legible, the seller thinks that the engine is the original. Coupled with a synchronised 4-speed manual transmission, the 4 in-line cylinders of 1897 cc are mounted lengthwise and equipped with Weber carburettors that have replaced the original Solex ones. The vehicle has been serviced annually for the past 15 years, but the file is not available. The engine and transmission have not been repaired. It was last serviced in February 2020, at which time the spark plugs, platinum-plated screws, oil and oil filter were replaced. This vehicle can be viewed in Obaix, Belgium. Prizes won: Retro Folies Spa 2004 - Concours d'Elegance; Réunion nationale FBVA / BFOV 2005 - Concours d'élégance; Festival de Tintin 2005; Retro Folies Spa 2006 - Concours d'élégance; Rallye de Bruxelles 2006.
