Thank you for your interest in our Mercedes Benz 220 SE C Cabriolet.
\r
Bodywork/Paintwork: The exterior still shows itself well as you can see in the photos. The Mercedes was blasted and repainted in the mid-2000s by a recognized car paint shop that only does classic Mercedes work. Of course, the original color that corresponds to the chassis number was chosen again. There is also a photo of the type plate so that you can check the chassis number for authenticity. Of course, the paint still seems very good due to the little use of the Mercedes. But of course there are also some minor signs of wear and age over the years.
\r
Technical: It was partly restored & overhauled by an old Mercedes worker at the end of the 2000s. The automatic gearbox which is special for the year 1963! has also been completely overhauled and checked.
The powerful 6-cylinder in-line engine has also been overhauled and sounds fantastic. The brakes were checked and readjusted in 2021, the owner says. The Mercedes drives, brakes and shifts wonderfully and very smoothly and in good condition.
\r
Interior: The interior is also in a very neat condition. The leather seats and backseat still feel and sit wonderfully.
The upholstery was completely treated in 2015 and the appearance restored by a recognized interior specialist. So while retaining the original parts, the first real part has been completely refurbished, which will also increase the value of this rarity for a purist who loves originality!
Of course, some minor signs of wear and age can be found over the years.
\r
Documents: Dutch license plate
\r
Other information:
Comes from a true enthusiast/collector. Here it has been kept heated in the collection for years, and only driven occasionally in good weather.
\r
\r
The convertible roof was also completely redone at the end of 2010. And it still looks very good in 2023. This is also partly because this Mercedes has been in a collection where it was always dark for 95% of the time. This is to prevent discoloration of materials, so everything has been thought of by the owner ;
-)
\r
Chrome parts are almost completely original. They were still in good condition during the restoration and were left original. So not re-chromed. Some parts do, of course.
\r
In short, in our opinion, a beautiful Mercedes that has been in the collection for years and has been cherished.
\r
From 1963 to 1997 it belonged to the first owner who was known to the current owner. He bought this 220 new purely for its lines and as he told the current owner, I enjoyed looking at the car and not driving it. He also always kept it in his garage. So it is absolutely not a car that has driven many kilometers. This can also be seen everywhere, for example the pedals, the steering wheel and the gear lever, which still looks perfect after more than 60 years.
\r
You are very welcome to come and view this 220 before placing a bid.
