Mercedes-Benz - 450 SL - 1974
Mercedes convertible SL 450 V8 w107 from 1974, which I have owned for 2 years.
. It works perfectly and I have done a lot of mechanical work on it:
- the front running gears have been revised (hinges and silent blocks have been replaced) .
- The bridge silent-blocks have also been replaced.
- New exhaust
- The brakes have also been overhauled with all hoses and brake fluid replaced.
- 4 new "retro classic" tyres have been mounted onto sandblasted and epoxy-painted rims.
- Complete service with oil and fuel filter replacements.
. The roof is available but in very poor condition and needs to be replaced.
. The original hard top (red interior like the car) is also available.
. Aesthetically, this vehicle is far from perfect. Badly repainted probably a few years ago in white, whereas its original colour is Astral Grey.
. The vehicle is, however, almost free of rust. In particular, the floors, sills, bottoms of the door and all other vulnerable points are perfectly healthy and sound, as is the spare tyre compartment. Surface rust is visible on the battery compartment and also to the left of the boot.
. The interior is in good condition. The seats in MB-Tex are free of tears and the rest is in very good condition. A cover has been placed on the dashboard so that one cannot see if it is cracked underneath, as is often the case.
. The vehicle is equipped with electric windows which work.
. To be checked: apart from the centralisation and air conditioning, the boot cylinder has to be replaced, the boot spring also no longer works, the right rear light is broken in its lower part (not visible at normal height) .
. The main appeal of this vehicle, in addition to the very good condition of its mechanics and chassis, lies in its combination of Astral Grey colour / burgundy red interior like the most classic Mercedes SL cars.
. It is perfect either to drive now with an SL in very good mechanical condition or as a very good base for restoration and restoring it to its original colour.
. Virtually pristine MOT, valid for 5 years.

. The replacement chrome for the right of the rear bumper is included.
. The vehicle can be inspected in Breteuil, France.
