Mid-19th C. Spanish Glazed Pottery Vessels (2)
**Originally Listed At $125**
Western Europe, Spain, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A beautiful ensemble of two antique, hand-thrown terracotta vessels. A large jug has a slender base, a bulbous body which dramatically tapers with a narrow neck, a collared rim, and an applied strap handle. The body is glazed in a deep-citrine hue, with remnants of emerald-green paint on the surface. Accompanying the jug is a shallow dish with a planar base, slight curved walls, a rolled rim, and twin applied crescent handles. This dish is glazed in an umber hue and appears to have been extensively used. Both vessels are wonderful examples of finely-built Spanish pottery! Size of largest (jug): 9.625" H (24.4 cm).
Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection, acquired by descent from the owner's father, collection amassed between 1950-1990
