Mid-20th C. Holo Wood & Bead Fetish Head w/ Bowl

Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Holo peoples, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden fetish head with a pointed chest, a rod-shaped lower body, and a small support stick fed laterally through the shoulders. Each end of the support rod rests in a small hole on the flared rim of a petite vessel with ribbed shoulders and a flat base. Both figure and bowl are painted with dark-brown pigment, and a trio of small seeds painted in red and black are inserted atop the figure's cap. Size: 3.375" W x 4.8" H (8.6 cm x 12.2 cm).
