Midleton Very Rare 2017 - 700ml

[ translate ]

The thirty-fourth release of Midleton Very Rare, still under the expert care of Master Distiller, Brian Nation. Midleton Very Rare (MVR) is aged between 12 and 25 years in Bourbon casks. Rare and highly collectable, this whiskey has won many awards and received industry accolades keeping the Midleton name revered. Starting in 1990, there were both 70cl and 75cl versions produced, depending on the destination market. Another change was that they were now presented in a quality wooden box, still with a certificate of authenticity and with the bottle number stamped on the distillery invitation. This bottling was the last to be produced in the wooden box that had been used since 1990. Nose: Mandarin and nutmeg with baking notes from warm raisin scones and old fashioned heavy cake. Palate: Spices to the fore, more nutmeg and cinnamon too. The expected dried fruit then emerges (but doesn’t overpower) with orange peel, vanilla, baked pear and some fragrant apricot. Finish: More savoury and quite dignified with touches of clove and green pepper. Overall: Really bloody tasty. The bottle is in an imprccable state. With certificate and invitation included. There are scratches on the wooden boxes, see the photos.
