Designed in Brooklyn by Italian-born architect Ale Preda for Miduny, this artisanal product is made in Italy by master craftsmen. Carve out of solid Noce Canaletto (Black Walnut) or Ebonized Oak, this bench merges visual lightness with solidity. The sinuous arched profile goes from mysteriously thin to substantial, in a continuous swoop. KG Bench comes in two versions: one has a carved top, which invites seating, the other has a flat top, ideal for using the surface as a low table. KG bench was a Best of Year 2019 Interior Design Magazine Honoree.
Materials and Finishing: A thick slab of solid Black Walnut made from 3full-length boards is carved for several hours on a 5-axis CNC machine, hand sanded stained and finished with a slightly reflective gloss. The legs follow a similar workflow. The overall process takes no less than 25 steps. Customers can choose from:
- Wood types: Ebonized Oak, Canaletto Walnut
- Shape of top: Carved or Flat
