Ultimately only 207 examples were ever executed in this material. This is one of Berrocal's most complex works?it took the artist six years to complete. The pieces of Il Cofanetto make up a complete service for two with four additional serving utensils, four goblets, four candlesticks, four ashtrays and one centerpiece. Berrocal's sculpture Romeo e Giulietta can be inserted atop this coffin, an homage to the young lovers.

Condition Report: Light scattered thin abrasions and scuffs to the housing. The grated underside has a repair near one foot with small losses of platting and a few cracks to a few of the pieces of the grate, or mesh. One screw has been replaced to one foot. The piece is stable and sits level on its feet. This issue is only detectable under close scrutiny, and if disassembled. Overall this work is in good condition and presents well.
