Mikhail Shikhanov-Kublitsky’s Venice View (2017) offers a contemporary vision of the city of canals — a dialogue between light, reflection, and movement. Executed in mixed media on canvas, the work shimmers with turquoise, ochre, and soft grey hues as domes, bridges, and waterways dissolve into lyrical abstraction.

The artist abandons strict perspective in favor of emotion and atmosphere. His brushwork and layered textures suggest both the fleeting shimmer of water and the enduring solidity of stone, transforming the Venetian skyline into something living — breathing, shifting, and perpetually reborn in color.

In Venice View, Shikhanov-Kublitsky translates the soul of Venice rather than its form. The result is a meditative symphony of tone and texture — a portrait of memory and light, where architecture becomes rhythm and reflection becomes poetry.
