“The last snow in March”. The snow is melting in the clearing of the spruce forest, early spring. Signed and dated Mikhail Obolenski 1953 (in Cyrillic). Oil on canvas. 80×100 cm.
Provenance: In 1964 Nikita Khrushchev (1894–1971), General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union visited Denmark. He brought several gifts for Danish politicians, including the present painting, which Khrushchev gave to the Danish Minister of Agriculture Karl Skytte (1908–1986). This is also documented by copies of two Danish newspaper articles (please see additionel photos at our website). Thence by Karl Skytte's two Danish grandchildren until today.
