Milou Voorwinden - Artwork - Iridescent waves

[ translate ]

Iridescent waves - is a wall object is created with the three-dimensional woven fabric developed for the OBJECT Rotterdam exhibition. During the creation of these novel fabric constructions, Milou explores form and material combinations on the loom and creates colourful textile objects. The coloured transparent yarns show the complex woven structure, create a subtle colour blend and reflect light like a sunset on the water. Milou considers it is her role as a textile designer to show possibilities on the loom and shows these possibilities by exploring three-dimensional weaving techniques through her woven textile objects. The technical development of every work is done by Milou herself and woven on industrial Jacquard Looms at EE-Exclusives. About Milou Voorwinden Milou Voorwinden is a textile researcher, designer, and artist specializing in weaving. Currently, she works as a jacquard designer and runs her textile design and research studio in the Netherlands. Her passion translates into her primary practice: three-dimensional textiles. Promoting innovative ways of using traditional methods of weaving Milou brings in contemporary digital tools and gives us a fresh and colourful look at the technique. Ultimately, it is her main goal to rediscover, renew, and re-apply the age-old methods with her multilayer product development and woven spacer fabric research.
