Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A miniature vessel comprised of glass that while green in coloration is covered with amazing iridescence of golden and rainbow hues. Its form is simple yet elegant with a round, near spherical body, an elongated tubular neck, and an outfolded rim all upon a concave base. Size: 1.7" in diameter x 2.9" H (4.3 cm x 7.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-Davis collection, Houston, Texas, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London and New York

Condition Report: Minute stable hairline fissures on rim, neck, base, and one spot on the upper body. Otherwise in fine condition with beautiful golden and rainbow iridescence. Nice pontil mark on underside. A pontil scar or mark indicates that a vessel was free-blown, while the absence of such a mark suggests that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.
