Sessa’s first cat-and-mouse device, in a rare and attractively printed missal. ISTC identifies only five copies outside Italy, two of which are in the United States; ABPC and RBH record only one copy at auction, in 1932. HC 11412*; BSB-Ink M-482; IGI 6640; Goff M-712; ISTC im00712000.

Chancery quarto (205 x 140mm). 276 leaves. Entire text printed in red and black. Full-page woodcut of the Crucifixion, smaller woodcut initials including historiated initials with scenes of the life of Christ, two printer’s devices printed in red (some light fingersoiling, especially at ends, a few blank corners repaired, including to title). Modern black morocco by James Macdonalds Co. Provenance: occasional marginal comments, pen trials on final blank.
