Monstrance (1) - Historicism - Late 19th century

Rare, large, richly decorated and chiselled monstrance with the original box from ca. 1880, France. The monstrance is made of several pressed and forged pieces that are partially gold-plated. In the upper area, it shows God the Father with 12 angels in vines, grapes and ears of wheat. The foot shows the symbols of the 4 evangelists, gilded in blue enamel. Corona and glass stone background in a brilliant cut, gold-plated. Monstrance: Material: 0. 950 silver (9 hallmarks with the Mercury head mark with the 1 on the lower left, French export mark since 1 July 1879 and master’s mark J with star and P) .
