Rare, large, richly decorated and chiselled monstrance with the original box from ca. 1880, France. The monstrance is made of several pressed and forged pieces that are partially gold-plated. In the upper area, it shows God the Father with 12 angels in vines, grapes and ears of wheat. The foot shows the symbols of the 4 evangelists, gilded in blue enamel. Corona and glass stone background in a brilliant cut, gold-plated. Monstrance: Material: 0. 950 silver (9 hallmarks with the Mercury head mark with the 1 on the lower left, French export mark since 1 July 1879 and master’s mark J with star and P) . Dimensions: Height 78 cm, width 35 cm, depth 30 cm, silver weight 3470 g. Leather box: Material: Wood, cardboard, leather, brass Dimensions: 78 x 35 x 32 cm, box weight 5190 g German collection.
