Beautiful Montblanc fountain pen in commemoration of SIR HENRY TATE. With number 2,459 of 4,810. BRAND NEW IN ITS BOX. The "Sir Henry Tate" Art Pattern Edition, strictly limited to 4,810 fountain pens, is characterized by clear and tectonic shapes. The source of inspiration is the neoclassical architecture of Tate Britain, the museum funded by Sir Henry Tate. The geometric lines of the platinum-plated body and the decoration of the cap’s rings reflect characteristic elements in the style of the museum building. In elegant contrast, the cap and barrel feature inlays of crisscrossed red lacquer lines and the cap’s head bears an ivory Montblanc star. The most important patron of British art was a successful sugar merchant: Sir Henry Tate. Born in Lanca-shire in 1819, the industrialist used his negotiating skills and innovative spirit to build a sugar empire from a small business. He invested his wealth in contemporary art, founded universities, hospitals and libraries and opened the artistic treasures of his home to the public every Sunday. With a generous donation of £80,000 and 65 valuable paintings from his private collection, Sir Henry Tate laid the foundation for the most important collection of British art in the UK in 1879. Today, the name "Tate" represents a unique network of fine arts: for four world-renowned museums where the cultural spirit of its eponymous patron lives. The platinum-plated 18 kt gold tip can be retracted with a rotating motion. It is finely engraved with two sugar canes, an allusion to the raw material that allowed Sir Henry Tate, The exclusive edition also includes the "Sir Henry Tate" fountain pen, of which only 888 were manufactured. Made of solid white 750 gold and completed with grey lacquer inlays. The cap’s head is surrounded by a series of square-cut diamonds.
