Paris: Farband fun Poylishe Yidn in Frankraykh, 1946, 251pp., Limited Edition of 500 copies Softcover. Richly illustrated by A. Vayts, signed in the plate. Lithographed cover with red and black lettering and an illustration of a man and woman with a knife wielding Nazi skeleton and b/w illustrations. A collection of short stories and poems regarding life in the Holocaust. This is one of the first attempts to commemorate the Holocaust through literature.
Condition:light wear to cover; yellow /light brown paper; not neatly cut.
MORTKHE (MORDCHAI) SARNA (b. 1917) - was born in Sandomierz, Kielce district, Poland. Until WWII he was active in Zionist youth organizations. Over the years 1940-1945, he survived various Nazi death camps and ghettos, such as the “24th” extermination camp in Lemberg. He later lived in Cracow, Warsaw, Rovno, and Paris. He was the author of: In di orems fun toyt (In the arms of death), stories and poems of Jewish resistance against the Nazis in the ghettos of Poland and in the woods
