Moses, Scuola Napoletana del XVII secolo
Technique: Oil painting on canvas
Dimensions: 74 x 59 cm.
The work presented belongs indisputably to the Neapolitan School of the seventeenth century, presenting strong affinities with the style of Francesco Fracanzano (1612-1656). This attribution did not completely convince scholars, who also advanced the hypothesis that Hendrick van Somer (1607-1656?) or one of his followers painted the canvas.
The painting, on a new canvas, upon examination with Wood's Lamp shows several repaintings concentrated in the face (small retouches) and in the right side of the background. Framed
