Moulin Rouge (1952): Two pairs of Original screen-worn ballet shoes belonging to Pearle Barnato; with accompanying photograph, c.1952 - A pair of pink satin ribbon ballet pointe shoes, made by Gamba Ltd., each sole size 6 52 D and stamped with manufacturer's detail, one sole is inscribed in blue pen 'PEARLE BARNATO' with inscription to inside of one shoe which reads 'PEARLE BARNATO (MOULIN ROUGE)', with an accompanying letter written in Pearle's hand inside one shoe which reads ' To wish you with this lucky shoe Good Fortune enveloping you with R.R. with love from x Pearle + Ceril x By permission of [the] Mayor of Ken. & Chelsea'; together with. A pair of brown satin ballet pointe shoes, made in England by Freed of London, each sole size 6 N XX, stamped with manufacturers detail and logo, with blue stamp which reads 'WIDE BLOCK', both soles inscribed 'RAMLSEY' in black ink and one sole inscribed 'Brown' in black ink, both pairs were screen worn in John Huston's 1952 production of the Moulin Rouge; accompanied with a black and white photograh of Pearle Barnato, inscribed on verso in black ink, 5 ½ x 3 ½ inches (4). Provenance: The Collection of Ceril Campbell, celebrity stylist, TV Presenter, motivational speaker, life coach, author, and independent celebrant. Ceril Campbell's mother, Pearle Barnato, wore both pairs of these ballet shoes whilst working for director, John Huston, on his 1952 film production of Moulin Rouge.
