A Greenland falcon or A white Gyrfalcon in top quality condition. This white or white/grey morph of the "common" gyrfalcon can only be found in specimen breeding on or around Greenland. Way back, the white gyr was the most sought of bird of prey in the various principalities when the art of falconry (controlled hunt with birds of prey) was common. To, through an envoy or tribute, give a king/emperor/nobleman/regent/duke (etc) a white gyr, was a very generous and costly act with great symbolic worth. The white falcon was therefore very sought of and wanted, even more so than the other all so ruthless and skilled species such as the golden eagle, peregrine falcon, white tailed eagle and eagle owl to mention a few.
