(1656 Paris 1746)
Portrait of a nobleman, probably Johann Rudolf von Diesbach (1688–1751). 1737.

96 × 77 cm.
Provenance:
Auction Stuker, Berne, November 1984, lot 2104 (attributed to Johann Rudolf Huber).
The sitter can probably be identified as Johann Rudolf von Diesbach (1688-1751), a Swiss commander who served in the Dutch and Piedmontese military and owned the Sinneringen Estate near Berne until 1748. It is possible that the artist of this portrait is Johann Rudolf Huber the Elder (1668-1748), the Basel painter and politician who worked mainly in Berne from 1702 onwards.
