NWA 15196 Martian Meteorite End Cut - Main Mass Martian (shergottite) Northwest Africa Found: 2022 Just discovered in 2022, NWA 15196 is a Martian meteorite of the shergottite variety. This relatively big specimen weighing 81.9 grams, is the MAIN MASS and a high percentage of the total known weight. This end-cut piece displays an overall greenish-gray coloration, with the duality of a polished window face as well as a rocky and rugged mountainous exterior. The textural surface culminates in a ridge, where two offset sides of the convex backside taper to the further point. The shape of the rock allows it to sit with an ideal orientation that presents the display surface at the perfect angle. This outstanding specimen is worthy of any serious collection and will fit into a case without the need for a base. Highly shocked, this has melt pockets within the grainy composition and Calcite-filled cracks, giving it contrasting white accents.
