Native American, Northwest, Washington, ca. mid-20th century CE. A small lidded, twined basket of a charming globular form, finely woven from grasses and cedar bark and colored with aniline dyes. The exterior walls are decorated with a pair of plum/brown colored whales. The lid features a five petaled flower of the same plum/brown hues. The base shows concentric pink, light green, and teal striations. These are complemented by pale green and pink striations around the exterior of the lid. Size: 4" W x 2.5" H (10.2 cm x 6.4 cm)
