[ translate ]

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A realistic marble head of a male youth with a close-cropped wavy/curled coiffure framing his handsome face which presents attractive features such as generously lidded, almond-shaped eyes, an arched browline leading to his aquiline nose, closed full lips, a defined chin, and well-modeled naturalistic facial planes. The classicizing features and treatment of the eyes suggest that the head is from the Julio-Claudian Period. The verso is fully carved in the round. A wonderful piece of sculpture from ancient Rome! All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
