Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery woman shown nude in a seated position. With outstretched legs and hands to her hips she sits, red bands encircling her neck and waist, while petite eyes peer outwards beneath a tall, pinched brow. Smooth white pigment covers the surfaces of this abstract figural effigy. Size: 4.3" W x 5.125" H (10.9 cm x 13 cm)
