An extraordinary off-metal striking of the final Dutch East Indies 2½ Cent issue, produced in gold and preserved in exceptional Proof quality. Both sides display deeply mirrored fields that contrast beautifully against the sharply frosted design elements, fully justifying the Cameo designation. The surfaces are remarkably clean for the assigned grade, with only the most inconspicuous handling marks visible under magnification.
The reverse is particularly striking, featuring bold Arabic script executed with razor-sharp precision and complete definition throughout the intricate central calligraphy. Raised elements stand prominently against highly reflective fields, creating an impressive visual depth rarely encountered on colonial pattern material. The obverse is equally impressive, with the crowned Dutch arms exhibiting crisp detail down to the lion and shield components, while the surrounding legends remain fully struck and evenly balanced.
