Nicky Hoberman, British/South African b.1967 - Strong Mint, 1996; oil on canvas, signed, titled and dated on the reverse 'Nicky Hoberman 96 Strong Mint', 91.5 x 92 cm (unframed) (ARR) Provenance: Entwistle, London, no. EG#Q0085 (according to the label attached to the reverse of the canvas) Note: the artist had a solo exhibition 'Paintings' at Entwistle in 1998. This work is typical of Hoberman’s style and subject matter, with her output consisting largely of depictions of young girls whose bold gazes engage the viewer, exploring the idea of the sitter’s sense of identity, and the relationship between the observer and the painted image.
