Copper-engraved map on four separate sheets, hand-colored. Each sheet approx. 50x57.5 cm. (19¾x22½") plus wide margins; if joined, the map would measure approx. 100x115 cm.
Large, detailed mapping of North America nearly to the west coast, including also Central America, the Caribbean, and the northern cap of South America. There is an inset of the Kino map of the Southwest and California, the publication of which in 1705 joined California once again to the mainland. There is also a large inset of Hudson's and Baffin's Bays, which covers over much of what was the still unmapped American West. This map is based on that of Thomas Pownall.
Condition Report: Some very faint darkening, 1 sheet with a bit of creasing along centerfold, else near fine, with an excellent impression and nice, full coloring.
