OTA KICHISABURO: A CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASE

Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912)
The elegant vase with a narrow neck and flaring mouth, decorated with colored enamels and silver wire. Reserved on a midnight blue ground is a flowering plum tree branch above a dense composition of irises and other flowers. The reverse is decorated with a leafy stalk and three flowers. The rims and underside silver plated, the latter signed OTA KICHISABURO.
HEIGHT 15 cm
Condition: Small imperfections and surface wear to enamels. The copper rims with extensive wear and warping.
