Provenance: INAUGURAL CEREMONIES FOR PRESIDENT WILLIAM MCKINLEY AND VICE-PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT, MARCH 4, 1901, (together with) INAUGURAL GRAND CONCERTS PROGRAMME FOR MARCH 5 AND 6, 1901. (2 PIECES) by Committee On Printing (edited and compiled by) , Saks, Isadore, Chairman. About this Item: The Hungerford & Darrell Advertising Agency, Inc., Washington, DC, 1901. Softcover. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. RARE. President William McKinley and Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Program, presented to McKinley's cousin, probably by McKinley's personal secretary at McKinley's request as it is not penned in McKinley's hand. Penned on title page verso, "Miss Mary C. Kimball from Cousin William, Washington DC March 5, 1901". Her family was influential in Bronxville, Westchester County, NY. Her husband was prominent also and was president of the Fifth Avenue Coach Lines in NYC and attended many important affairs including the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, testimonial dinners for Charles Linbergh, Chang-Chi Chek and many others. Also Included a 7 page pictorial Inaugural Grand Concerts Programme (4 3/4" x 6 3/4") in fine condition. Program bound in green coarse woven material similar to burlap, (lightened somewhat) with an Official Souvenir Program Seal in red, white and blue applied to cover and held together by red, white and blue ribbon tie. On the applied red embossed circular on the front cover it says: OFFICIAL SOUVENIR PROGRAM. MARCH 4, 1901, 25 CENTS (which is all readable in person). It also shows a side profile impression of McKinley's head which is somewhat distorted. Ca 150 pgs, unpaginated. Profusely illustrated with photos, advertisements, and many full page illustrations of Wash. DC views, McKinley, Roosevelt, Cabinet and Supreme Court members, etc. A small bit of fraying on woven edges, very minor. Also laid in is a very interesting 2005 typed letter from friends of the brother-in-law of Miss Mary C. Kimball, with much family background, etc. Overall very well preserved. A rare find. ; numerous b/w photo illus and line drawings; Oblong ; 150 pages.
