Okimono (1) - Elephant ivory - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)

This item CANNOT be sold outside the EU. Large okimono carved from an ivory block depicting a man with three children holding the goddess Benzaiten. Signed in red lacquer under the base. In very good overall condition presenting minor wear and natural veins compatible with the period. Japanese object from the Meiji period. The item was made prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations regarding the sale of ivory. The item comes with a certificate of authenticity which will be sent to the buyer. Very important note for bidders outside the EU.
