Okimono - Elephant ivory - Bird hunter with attendant - Signed Seisō 静宗 - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) A large and very fine okimono depicting a bird hunter searching for prey with his pointed stick. the son follows him amused Extraordinary quality of execution, the hunter's attentive gaze can be seen, the clothing and all the hunting equipment finished to the smallest detail with maximum realism, not to mention the quality of the basket resting on the ground. It is in good general condition with minimal veining and wear compatible with the period, it has a natural crack in the ivory plastered under the base and a joining at the foot of the child visible in red in the photos. the crack, as can be seen from the photos, does not completely split the base. Japanese object from the Meiji period. The item was made prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations regarding the sale of ivory. The item comes with a certificate of authenticity which will be sent to the buyer. Very important note for bidders outside the EU: This item CANNOT be sold outside the EU.
