Okimono - Elephant ivory - Chinzan - a good carving of a cormorant fisherman - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) The okimono, carved out of a single piece of elephant ivory, depicting a fisherman holding on a rope his cormorant that swoops a fish out of the waves. Very good detailing. Condition: a larger age crack to the back of his right leg (not broken) and a faint one the the side of his head. Otherwise perfect. A report from an expert is added to confirm the age and the fact that it can be sold legaly in the EU. Insured shipping.
