Okimono - Elephant ivory - Geisha con ventaglio - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)

[ translate ]

Okimono carved from a single block of elephant ivory, depicting a beautiful geisha raising her arm with a fan that seems to draw attention, with the other hand holding a cricket holder. In this unique case, the sculptor has been able to stop the moment in which the woman moves delicately, moving the wings of the kimono and the bow of the obi. Superb quality of the excellent technique where you notice a postural movement that highlights the gesture of the arms and hands. Moving, it seems to dance, even the kimono is finely sculpted with engraved leaves, wisteria and herons. Signed under the base. 310 g Fair condition - restoration along the right arm and on the hand holding the fan - natural ivory threads - see photos The lot will be carefully packed and shipped within 1 or at most 2 working days from the day of payment. The shipping price includes delivery via UPS, TNT, DHL or SDA courier (depending on the lot destination) with full insurance and professional packaging. The original certificate compiled by Luca Mastromauro, Japanese art expert number 2617 registered at the Milan Chamber of Commerce, will be sent together with the lot. Copy of the Antiquity certificate complying with CITES international rules drawn up by CESAR Archaeometric Study Center based in London, Milan and Rome together with the object. The original is available only on request. The item cannot be sold outside the EU.
