Okimono - Elephant ivory - Signed Unpō 雲鳳 - An oni 鬼 (demon) as an acrobat accompanied by Enma 閻魔 (King of Hell) and yamauba 山姥 (mountain witch) - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) . A fine and rare okimono carved from a single block of ivory depicting a group of street entertainers, the one in the centre doing a handstand on a small stool. Object of great detail quality in excellent condition. Signed under the stool . Japanese object from the Meiji period. The item was made prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations regarding the sale of ivory.
