Old shaman mask in wood. Used during Bön ceremonies. First half of the 20th century. Origin: Nepal, mid-hill region Dimensions: \t - 21. 7 x 10 x 14 cm - 433 g Made from sculpted wood; the hair is yak hair. Beautiful patina from wear; the mask is in fine overall shape. To combat the anger of the gods, the "shaman-priests" of Bön, the Bönpos, engage in complex ceremonies and rituals. They serve as a medium between the spirits and humans.
