Olga Wisinger-Florian

[ translate ]

(Vienna 1844–1926 Grafenegg)
Village Street, monogrammed O. WF, estate stamp on the reverse, oil on panel, 21 x 26.5 cm, framed
Provenance:
Galerie Helmut Klewan, Vienna, 1971, cat. no. 40;
Private Collection, Vienna.

We would like to thank Dr Alexander Giese for confirming the authenticity of the work based on the original, for including it in the catalogue raisonné, and for his assistance with the cataloguing.

In the artist’s diary from 1894, three entries from May appear to relate to this study, which is painted with bold yet swift brushstrokes. On 16 May, she notes that during a ‘promenade to Engersdorf’ near the Bisamberg, she had found a ‘beautiful motif’. On 17 May, she records having painted an ‘evening mood near Engersdorf’, which she continued to work on ‘very diligently’ a week later, on 30 May.
