Orconuma Meteorite Slice Ordinary Chondrite, H3-4 Southern Tagalog, Philippines - (12° 38' 53"N, 121° 31' 19"E) Found: 2011 Orconuma represents the 6th witnessed meteorite fall from the Philippines. This interesting slab of the H3-4 Chondrite displays a nice fusion crust around the majority of its exterior edge, with only a small part missing from the rind due to a tiny piece that broke off the slice. Regardless of its technical name, there is nothing ordinary about this sample, which weighs a respectable 131.6 grams. The thin section slab also has a nice amount of surface area since it measures over 5 inches (12.7 cm) in diameter. The "primitive" breccia features amazing chondrules of varying shapes and sizes over a generally grayish face with hints of metallic flecks, as well as one underlying sealed fracture. This material, found in 2011, has a fabulous backstory, and one of the co-owners of the main mass has provided this wonderful slice for the auction. Measurements: 5.05 x 3.85 x 0.15 inches (12.83 x 9.78 x 0.38 cm), weighs 131.6 grams HID09710052018 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
