He took on the name Kunisada II c. 1850–51, around the time he inherited the house from Kunisada I. Title of the triptych: Visiting the Tenmangû Shrine (Tenmangû sankei no zu) 「天満宮参詣之図 Founded in the 10th century, is one of the most important of hundreds of shrines dedicated to the Shinto deity of science, Sugawara Michizane.
