Original woodblock print triptych - Utagawa Kunisada II (1823-1880) - "Tenmangû sankei no zu" 天満宮参詣之図 (Visiting the Tenmangû Shrine) - Japan - 1847-52 (Kôka 4-Kaei 5) Original woodblock triptych by Utagawa Kunisada II (歌川国貞, (Kunimasa III, Toyokuni IV) 1823 – 1880 Kunisadi I adopted him in 1946 after marrying the daughter of the master, Osuzu. He took on the name Kunisada II c. 1850–51, around the time he inherited the house from Kunisada I. Title of the triptych: Visiting the Tenmangû Shrine (Tenmangû sankei no zu) 「天満宮参詣之図 Founded in the 10th century, is one of the most important of hundreds of shrines dedicated to the Shinto deity of science, Sugawara Michizane. Published in 1847–52 (Kôka 4–Kaei 5) Double nanushi censorship seals of Hama & Magome, 浜、馬込 Publisher: Moriya Jihei (Kinshindô) 守谷地 Source: Museum of Fine Arts Boston Acc.
