PAIR, MEISSEN FIGURAL PORCELAIN CANDLESTICKS
Meissen (German, founded 1720), 1934-1945. Two matching polychrome porcelain figural candlesticks in the rococo taste, each depicting a classically draped maiden embracing a putti, holding aloft a foliate stem with nozzle, on a shaped base decorated with insects and birds. Marked to the underside with impressed marks, "C84", "51", one with "35" and one with "38" Approx. of one, h. 12.75".
Condition Report: One with restorations to nozzle, leg, fingers and scattered chips and gilt loss to base; one with small chip to finger of putti; both examined under ultraviolet light.
