Il Patek Philippe Nautilus è uno degli orologi sportivi ed eleganti più ricercati dai collezionisti di tutto il mondo, nato nel 1976, dalla mente del geniale maestro orologiaio Gerald Genta.

Il suo design caratteristico s'ispirava alla forma degli oblò del Nautilus, il fantastico sottomarino che accompagna le avventure del Capitano Nemo, il famoso personaggio di Ventimila Leghe sotto i Mari, uno dei più grandi romanzi di Jules Verne, pubblicato la prima volta nel 1870.

Dalla fantasia legata a questo mitico sommergibile nacque l’innovativa cassa che ricorda infatti un oblò, con la lunetta di forma ottagonale dagli angoli lievemente smussati tali da renderlo un modello dal design inimitabile. Il primo Nautilus, definito Jumbo per le sue dimensioni (42 mm di larghezza) ed impermeabile fino a 60 metri, era un orologio sportivo ma elegante, decisamente robusto ed impermeabile grazie a una costruzione particolarmente raffinata e realizzato in acciaio.

Realizzato con una cassa costituita da due parti di cui fondello e carrure erano monoblocco, quest’ultima era tornita per alloggiare il movimento sulla quale veniva fissata una guarnizione ovale ed una lunetta assicurata da quattro viti poste sulle grandi anse laterali. Il quadrante fu realizzato a rilievo con un motivo lignèe orizzontale con indici e lancette a bastone e data a ore tre, il bracciale caratterizzato da tre file di maglie di cui quelle laterali satinate e quella centrale lucida e dalla fibbia doppia deployant marcata.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus is one of the most sought after sports and elegant watches by collectors all over the world, born in 1976, from the mind of the brilliant master watchmaker Gerald Genta.

Its distinctive design was inspired by the shape of the portholes of the Nautilus, the fantastic submarine that accompanies the adventures of Captain Nemo, the famous character of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, one of the greatest novels of Jules Verne, first published in 1870.

From the fantasy linked to this legendary submarine was born the innovative case that resembles in fact a porthole, with the bezel octagonal shape with slightly beveled angles to make it a model with an inimitable design. The first Nautilus, defined Jumbo for its size (42 mm wide) and waterproof up to 60 meters, was a sports watch but elegant, decidedly robust and waterproof thanks to a particularly refined construction and made of steel.

Made with a case consisting of two parts of which the case back and middle case were monobloc, the latter was turned to accommodate the movement on which it was fixed an oval gasket and a bezel secured by four screws placed on the large lateral handles. The dial was made in relief with a horizontal wooden pattern with indexes and baton hands and date at three o'clock, the bracelet features three rows of links of which the side satin and the central glossy and the buckle double deployant marked.
