PATEK PHILIPPE
Nautilus, Ref. 3710/1A
A Stainless Steel Wristwatch with Integrated Bracelet and Power Reserve Indicator, Circa early 2000s

Dial: black
Caliber: cal. 330 SC IZR automatic, 30 jewels
Case: stainless steel
Closure: Patek Philippe stainless steel link bracelet and folding clasp
Dimensions: 42 mm, bracelet circumference approx. 180 mm
Signed: case, dial and movement
Case numbers: ref. 3710/1A / serial: 4062130 / movement: 3148288

Designed by Gerald Genta and launched by Patek Philippe in 1976, the Nautilus is one of the most important watch designs of the 20th Century. For the first two decades of its history, the porthole-inspired case of the Nautilus sports watch only housed simple time and date dials. But that all changed in 1998 when Patek Philippe presented the Nautilus 3710/1A with a power reserve indicator. Along with the power reserve indicator, the black dial features Roman numeral hour markers and a date window. The 3710 also brought back the “Jumbo” 42 mm case size of the inaugural 3700 rather than the mid-size 37.5mm cases that had taken over the Nautilus lineup. Patek phased out the Nautilus 3710/1A in 2005, making this piece a rare example from a relatively limited production run, which paved the way for future Nautilus models with complications.

Condition Report:
This Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3710/1A dates back to the early 2000s. The original dial and hands are in near-perfect condition and the luminous material on the hands and hour marks is still fully intact. The watch and bracelet are in fantastic overall condition, and with the exception of a couple very minor scratches near the clasp, the watch is completely free from all signs of wear. This lot is accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives, showing the date of Manufacture as 1999.

Sotheby’s Watches Department is pleased to offer Condition Reports to potential purchasers. A Condition Report is an opinion describing the lot in more detail with regard to, but not limited to the general condition, quality of the watches and/or other relevant information.
