Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed in person, this cabinet displays extraordinary, nuanced coloration and very sculptural details throughout the front surfaces of the doors. The palette of the sculptural elements with varying shades of grey and accents of gold, red and blue. A highly artistic and dynamic example of Paul Evans sculpture front showing a superb range of decorative elements. The side edges with occasional and minor chips and flecks, which are not visible unless closely inspected with some possibly inherent to the production process.The metallic elements overall present with surface irregularities which are inherent to the artist’s practice. The door with two protective Velcro strips to protect the surface from repeated contact with the cabinet frame.
The interior of the cabinet with a wooden surface painted with varying shades of bright and dark reds. The inside includes four adjustable shelves as well as one pull-out drawer, which present with very minor wear consistent with gentle use. The edge of one shelf with a small abrasion to the wooden surface. This work epitomizes the scale, color and intricate decorative elements that the artist sought to achieve in his designs and displays some of his best features emblematic of his craftsmanship.
