PAVEL OVCHINNIKOV. Russian silver gilded and champleve goblet of the 19th century, Pavel Ovchinnikov`s hallmark, Moscow, 1872. Tall goblet of traditional round shape with an extension of the body upwards and a high pedestal. The surface of the goblet is decorated with two oval medallions with images of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the Kremlin churches in Moscow, made using the blackening technique. The side surface of the goblet is decorated with stripes of belts made of white, red and blue champleve enamel. The free areas of the side surface, the frames of the medallions are decorated with colored polychrome ornamental monotonous patterns in the Russian style. The inner surface of the goblet, the bottom of the pedestal and the planes free from enamel are gilded. Russian Empire, Moscow, 1872. Master Pavel Ovchinnikov. Condition - very good, slight loss of enamel. Dimensions: height - 12.2 cm, diameter - 6 cm, weight - 157 gr. Mark: Master P. Ovchinnikov`s mark under the Double-headed eagle - in a rectangular shield, The assay mark of the Moscow assay tent in the form of an index of the assay master A.S. over 1872 (the assay master, possibly Smirnov A.A.), a Russian index of 91 samples of silver in a square shield, the index of the Moscow assay tent in the form of the image of George the Victorious on horseback is oriented to the right. Stamp with a lion (oriented to the left) in an oval - Estonia, 1920-1939, 900 silver proof in a square shield.
