the body formed as a softly lobed eight-pointed star, the spout and handle formed as a griffin, on circular foot, gilt overall, painted throughout with trompe l'oeil jewels and foliate motifs, the lid finial formed as a quatrefoil leaf, blue underglaze imperial cypher and gilt overglaze inscription E: 2.4. under base; overall height: 17 cm (6 3/4 in.)
CONDITION
The teapot appears in good condition. Very light surface scuffs and scratches. The finial shows signs of repair and regilding. Inspection under UV light shows repair and regilding to the finial.
