"Sommer" und "Daphne", dieses nach Gemäldevorlage des deutsch-britischen Males Hubert von Herkomer (1849-1914), Ausführung um 1900, einmal im Motiv signiert Wagner, wohl Porzellanmaler Franz Wagner (um 1894 bis 1908 in Wien tätig), unter- bzw. aufglasurblau gepinselte Bienenkorbmarken, Ritz- und Pinselnummer 5320:23 D bzw. Com D 5320 sowie Pinselbezeichnung "Sommer déposé" und "Daphne déposé", beide Prunkvasen als Pendants im Alt-Wiener Stil, jeweils Amphorenform mit Zylinderhals und hoch angesetzten Henkeln, prunkvoll verziert mit königsblau glasiertem Fond und schauseitiger Ovalreserve, darin Schulterportrait einer Schönheit mit Rosen- bzw. Kranzschmuck in feiner polychromer Aufglasurbemalung sowie reiche Reliefgoldmalerei als Bandkartusche, Floralmotive und Goldränder, seltenes Vasenpaar, guter altersgemäßer Zustand, H je 9,5 cm. A pair of magnificent miniature vases featuring portraits of ladies
‘Summer’ and ‘Daphne’, the latter based on a painting by the German-British artist Hubert von Herkomer (1849-1914), made around 1900, signed ‘Wagner’ once within the motif - presumably the porcelain painter Franz Wagner (active in Vienna from around 1894 to 1908) - with underglaze and overglaze blue painted beehive marks, engraved and brush numbers 5320:23 D and Com D 5320 respectively, as well as the brush designations “Sommer déposé” and “Daphne déposé”, both ceremonial vases are matching pairs in the Old Viennese style, each in an amphora shape with a cylindrical neck and high-set handles, lavishly decorated with a royal blue glazed background and an oval reserve on the display side, depicting a shoulder-length portrait of a beauty adorned with roses and a wreath, respectively, in fine polychrome overglaze painting, as well as rich relief gold painting in the form of a band cartouche, floral motifs and gold borders; a rare pair of vases, in good condition for their age, H 9.5 cm each.
